But, above all it is the education of adolescents that is important, because adolescence is the time when the child enters on the state of adulthood and becomes a member of society.

Learning with the Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Our Middle School program covers up to Grade 10, and we continue to expand. This program uses the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to provide an inquiry-based, student-centered learning experience aimed at equipping students with 21st-century global citizenship skills and the strong foundation they will need to succeed in their future academic endeavors.

DIMS is a Candidate School* for the MYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that DIMS believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP).  Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. The MYP

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) offers a forward-thinking curriculum for students aged 11 to 16.  It emphasizes service, personal projects, continuous assessment, and global citizenship.

The MYP's unique features include:

  • Service: Students engage in meaningful service projects, which are required for progressing through the MYP.

  • Personal Project: A large-scale, independent research project completed in Grade 10.

  • Continuous Assessment: Ongoing assessments help students prepare for final evaluations.

  • E-assessments: Digital evaluations that emphasize skill development over memorization.

  • Key Concepts: Students explore themes that develop an understanding of common humanity and shared responsibility for the planet.

  • Approaches to Learning (ATL): These essential skills help students manage their learning, contributing to their success across subjects.
